The low-tech process for this piece was to scout a damaged VHS player, switch a wire to produce f***ed up signal, and play the funeral sequence repeatedly until the tape degraded to produce static storm when played in slow motion. The sequence was photographed repeatedly, obscuring the aghast or smiling. The title joins Heinrich Boll to The Omen. Interference, abuse, damage, chimera and the occult, as visited on popular perceptions, reflect my preoccupation with failed revolutions. Beginning as leaps into utopia, and eventually debasing until the state emerges strengthened with expansive policing powers.
