The first major English-language anthology of essays on the ongoing crisis of militarization and ethnic displacement in the southeast region of Bangladesh. The Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) are a formerly 98% indigenous Jumma population area, which through four decades of slow-motion, stop-and-start violence carried out by state and private actors, has become a majority Bengali region. Sitting the the crossroads of various crises, including the recent influx of Rohingya refugees from Burma, CHT represents a "blind spot" at the center of Bengali, Bangladeshi, and Bangladesh nationalism.
